Sarima Magazine invites submissions for Where the Light Begins, an upcoming literary anthology exploring faith, hope, renewal, and the many ways we begin again.
We are interested in writing that explore renewal, purpose, and becoming something new.
We welcome work that approaches this topic with imagination, honesty, and literary depth. Submissions may engage with faith while remaining attentive to the complexities of contemporary life, culture, and identity.
We particularly welcome emerging writers and poets, including those engaging with African, Christian, diasporic, and contemporary cultural experiences.
WHAT WE ARE ACCEPTING
FICTION
Literary, contemporary, speculative, historical, experimental, and other forms of fiction engaging with faith, hope, renewal, identity, transformation, and new beginnings.
Maximum: 1,500 words
POETRY
Poems exploring faith, grace, waiting, loss, hope, renewal, belonging, transformation, and becoming.
Maximum 400 words for each entry( at most three poems sent in a single document)
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- Submissions must be your unpublished work and must not have appeared previously in print or online.
- Submit your work as a Word document (.docx) or PDF.
- Include a third-person biography of no more than 100 words within your submission document.
- Please ensure your work has been carefully edited and proofread.

PUBLICATION & TERMS
Selected works will be curated for publication in the Where the Light Begins Anthology, forthcoming from Sarima Magazine.
This is an unpaid submission opportunity. Sarima Magazine does not currently offer monetary compensation for selected works. Selected contributors will receive publication in the anthology, which will be available in PDF and eBook formats.
By submitting, you confirm that the work is your original, unpublished work and agree that, if selected, Sarima Magazine may publish the work as part of the Where the Light Begins Anthology.
